COLLABORATION

I AM INTERESTED IN OBJECTS AS TRANSFORMATIVE  SOURCES FOR THE EXPLORATION OF IDEAS.

BY SEARCHING, FINDING, CUTTING, DYING, SEWING, WELDING, GLUING, AND MOUNTING LEATHER WITH STAINLESS STEEL, I CREATE ASSEMBLAGES THAT EITHER HAVE DIRECT OR PARODIC CONNOTATION OF PARTICULAR CONTEXT.

DETAILS

ABIDEMI IS A NIGERIAN-BORN ARTIST WHOSE WORK EXPLORES THE NUANCES OF STORYTELLING.

INTERESTED IN OBJECTS AS TRANSFORMATIVE SOURCES FOR THE EXPLORATION OF IDEAS, ABIDEMI CREATES SCULPTURES THAT HAVE DIRECT OR PARODIC CONNOTATIONS OF PARTICULAR CONTEXTS.

ABIDEMI IMPLEMENTS A SURREALIST TONE IN HIS PIECES: “I WANT TO STRETCH [THE] DIALOGUE [OF MY ART] BEYOND THE CONFINES OF THE CONCRETE.” BY SEARCHING FOR, FINDING, CUTTING, DYING, SEWING, WELDING, GLUING AND MOUNTING LEATHER PIECES TO STAINLESS STEEL, ABIDEMI’S WORK SYMBOLICALLY CAPTURES THE FREE, CHAOTIC, AND UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF LIFE EXPERIENCES ENCOMPASSING A REFINED BOUNDARY OF HUMAN UNDERSTANDING, “MY GOAL IS TO CREATE COHERENCE OUT OF WHAT ARE FRAGMENTED BUT UNIQUE OBJECTS.”
